Since I've uploaded anything...

Few things have happened.

My mom passed, I had moved out to the west coast late 2010. Because she asked me to. She said it would nice to have someone around if anything happened. She was like 80 years old. Still very active but always thinking ahead. Smart lady, my mom was.
Well something did happen and I was there right where I should be. Took care of my mom and let her last days be on her terms. I do miss her still. But I did what I was supposed to, and left nothing unsaid. So all in all no regrets on that front.

Worked as an armed guard out here on the west coast. So far that job was easy. Until payroll checks started bouncing... yeah that sucked. Moved on. Apparently the Labor Dept of Ca. doesn't have any teeth. It used to be you show enough proof that an employer was not paying employees, and the labor dept. would hand over evidence to the D.A. and they would prosecute. It is against the law to write bad checks and not compensate workers.... But the D.A.'s office just doesn't feel that even winnable cases are worth a damm to their office. Like the crime isn't big enough. So I'd be better off if someone mugged me for $1200, instead of bounced checks for that amount. You'd think with the laws already in place Ca. could bring employers to heel by charging them with the crime and also hitting them with penalties for court costs. Justice done and paid for.

So for a summer job I wound up working as a grill cook at Woodward West in lovely Tehachapi. Cool job easy job. Basically I cut open a frozen plastic bag of pre-cooked and spiced chicken and another frozen bag of cut onions and peppers cooked the on a flat grill warmed a tortilla and presto Chicken Fajita! I got so much love for my cooking skills. By Week 3 of camp I was titled Lord Fajita. You are supposed to have a camp nick name. The job was also plenty fun. Meet people from all over the world. Fed them fajitas and joked with them about their action sport of choice. If you don't know what Woodward is about that is what google is for. Basically it's an action sports camp. Skate boarders BMX Cheerlearders and gymnastic pros and kids would train here. Like former Olympians and guys from Nitro Circus make stops at Woodward. Home of the Mega Ramp of Tony Hawk fame.

Anyways the summer was going just swell. When the camp director asked if my G/F one of the head cooks would mind going up to Tahoe to finish out the summer they needed help with their food program, people were leaving and they needed to fill in the openings. That was a Friday morning... they had a spot for me as well. So we said sure did some packing it was about a month left. Drove 7 hours and was there Monday night. Even got to see the bear on campus up at Woodward Tahoe. Name is Biscuit. Not 5 minutes after reading the sign stating it was bear country and what to do if you encounter one. Some campers and staff mentioned that they had been there all summer and hadn't seem Biscuit and here we come and see him on our first day. Now previously I explained just how simple my job was at West. Well at Tahoe I had to flex my kitchen kung-fu skills. I went from re-heat and serve. To full kitchen prep cook and to full cook. At the end we and sometimes just myself was handling lunch and dinner for 80 plus people. Friday Fajitas was a big smash. Only now instead of cutting open a plastic bag. I was chopping chicken spicing it cooking it. Also grilling flank steaks spicing them and cutting them into strips. Chopping my peppers and onions and grilling them. So yeah I stepped up my game. Now I'm confident I can do whatever I want. Well almost anything. Not only did my work step up but so did my time off. We both had the weekends off. So we would catch a show in Reno go get eats and generally have a great time. Loved by campers and staff as we brought fire to the kitchen and at the end of the week we were scoring 4's and 5's on camper report cards. All in all I had a bomb ass summer.

Right at the end of summer I had another obligation. One I was happy to do. I returned to NYC to be there for my best friend's wedding. Got to meet the family of the bride. Mostly they were from Chicago. Wore a tux and everything. My boy Alex gave a gift to all the grooms men. Cufflings special ordered to each of us. Mine were old school NY subway tokens. I normally don't wear any sort of jewelry but for him I rocked them. While in the city helping with getting people to and fro. Hair appointments picking up people from the airport. Driver muy professional. I hooked up with a writer in Harlem writes DOMS. He was making his cake with an airbrush on the street. We got to talking and I did a quick piece in his black book, he had just gotten it so I was his first guest in it. Just sitting on the curb throwing down. People checking my work as I was doing it. One of the highlights of my trip back east.

Recently back in my area I participated in WASTELAND it is a yearly event sort of like a ren-faire but for Mad Max. So yup peopl walking around in assless chaps.... Leather and whatnot. I got in free because I helped with set up. Building the stage up. And a couple of the temporary buildings. The Atomic cafe / bar. The Command center. The Body shop / movie theater. I even got a crew dog tag so next year I won't be a noob that has to dig ditches. Had an awesome time meet some cool as fuck people, made new friends.

So finally I decided to get active again. I have been doing some art since I stopped posting it. Not as much as I'd like but a few things I can be proud of.

Room to play

1 min read
Upped my iPOD game from 30 gigger ancient iPOD to a mean ole 160 Gigging beast. Gotta love the Classics!
So I been finding the rest of the music that I couldn't fit on before.
No longer having to juggle what to select and deselect when I add music is awesome.
Which frees up more time to shoot at strangers and friends alike on Battlefield 3.
Guess what I'm saying is it's good to have room to play.

Now back to work.
